It's my third time running the 10K for Open Books everyone!
Trying to hit a fundraising goal of $500 in less than a month for an organization that's near and dear to my heart. Open Books is doing important work in the Chicago Area: Bridging the literacy gap by making sure that every child, teenager, and young adult can have access to books and reading programs, no matter their socioeconomic background. This is done by providing book grants to schools, hosting school field trips, and raising funds from its WONDERFUL non-profit used book store in the West Loop.
I've volunteered for the organization for four years as a remote editor for students as well as on-site 'coach' for several of their reading and writing programs, and I've been on the associate board, together with circa 30 other Chicago-area young professionals, since 2015. Your money will be put to good use for a great cause!
Team Bookin' It
Open Books' annual fundraiser Team Bookin' It (TBI), brings together runners, virtual runners, and donors in support of literacy. TBI is part of the Humana Rock 'n' Roll Chicago Half Marathon, July 21-22. The race includes a 5K on Saturday, July 21 and a 10K and Half Marathon on Sunday, July 22. The race takes place at Grant Park. Proceeds of TBI 2018 benefit Open Books' literacy and book granting programs that reach thousands of children each year.
