It's official - I signed up to run my first 1/2 marathon!
While I've been a consistent fair weather runner for years, 13.1 miles will be a new distance for me. I'm taking on this challenge in support of Open Books, an amazing organization where I have the honor of serving on the Associate Board (read more about their mission below).
Open Books combines several passions of mine:
- Reading is empowering and fun, opening minds to new ideas and experiences
- Kids are the future, so let's raise kind, thoughtful people
- Pre-owned books are good for the environment by reducing waste
A $25 donation to Open Books will provide one child with a new book every month for a year!!
Help me to my fundraising goal of $1000. Your donation is the motivation I need to get me to the finish line and do it under 2 hours! Thank you for your generous support and let the training begin!

About Team Bookin' It (TBI)!
Open Books' annual fundraiser Team Bookin' It, brings together runners and virtual runners in support of literacy. TBI is part of the Humana Rock 'n' Roll Chicago Half Marathon, July 20-21. The race includes a 5k on Saturday, July 20 and a 10k and Half Marathon on Sunday, July 21. The race takes place at Grant Park.
If you're not into running, you can still be part of the TBI team! Sign up as a virtual runner, and let your fundraising creativity shine! Proceeds from TBI support Open Books' literacy and book granting programs.

Half Marathon: $700
10K: $500
5K and Virtual Runner: $300
